Welcome to my new blog on tourism to Namibia in Africa

Hey THERE!  WELCOME!

I am a  novice blogger and this is my first attempt.  I will make errors.  I have not learned yet how to add photos or graphics, but soon I will.  Until then, bear with me.

This blog will be about tourism in Namibia.  I wish to highlight my experiences in Namibia to entice you to come here for a nice holiday.  You won't regret it.

I am Jackie Asheeke and I participate in the tourism industry in Namibia as a consultant.  Check out my website for more info on my company:  www.africatourconsult.com.

Let me start out by asking all readers to check out the Namibia Tourism Board www.namibiatourism.com.  They have all kinds of photos, facts, downloads of information and other specifics to help you decide whether you want to come on holiday here!

As a middle aged black American 'sista', transported from life in my home town of Washington, D.C. to my new hometown of Windhoek, Namibia, I think I will have a perspective on how great a holiday in Namibia will be that is unique.  I look at things differently than many other Namibians who promote tourism to Namibia and maybe I can answer questions about what actually happens on the ground here in this country. Brochures and websites and blogs are good, but eyes on the ground are better!

Sometimes, I will write about restaurants I visit and comment on the food, beverages and service. I will also comment on lodges, campsites and hotels I visit to give that personal opinion too.   If there are celebrations, ceremonies (like traditional weddings, funerals, baptisms..) and other events, I will give the good, bad and ugly about that too!  Namibia will be an excellent holiday choice for you and your family and I have no worries about telling the truth of my own experiences living here.

I write a weekly column in a local newspaper called the Windhoek Observer and for Flamingo, the inflight magazine of Air Namibia, the national air carrier here.   Google them for their email addresses and websites and get more info.   I will, at times, add articles I have written for other media on tourism and on other subjects!  I like to write things that are funny, but real.

I was warned to keep my blogs short.  I am verbose when both talking and writing!  So that is a challenge.  But, let me start by stopping!

Until next Blog,

Jackie
